  • Pehlay Akshar’s Magic Classroom is now live on Doordarshan Sahyadri

The Pehlay Akshar Foundation has collaborated with autonomous public service broadcaster Doordarshan Marathi for its Magic Classroom initiative to improve the English language skills of school students. The initiative aims to provide children studying in classes I to VIII, across English and vernacular mediums, an opportunity to continue learning during the pandemic.

418 episodes of 30 minutes each will be aired over 27 weeks, starting 4th January 2021, on DD Sahyadri, DD Free Dish (525), Dish TV (1229), Hathway (513), and Tata Sky (1274), across Maharashtra. Created in partnership with the State Council of Educational Research and Training of Maharashtra, these episodes are based on the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Education syllabus for classes I to VIII. The content is delivered using Pehlay Akshar’s unique pedagogy that incorporates diverse learning philosophies, promotes creative thinking, and helps develop socio-emotional skills, in line with India’s New Education Policy (NEP), 2020.

Radha Goenka, Director, RPG Foundation and Founder, Pehlay Akshar said, “Pehlay Akshar’s vision is to help children think, be curious and develop a good command over the English language. Equipping kids with the right mindset and basic English skills would enable them to eventually progress in their career path. We are confident that, despite the disruption caused by Covid-19, through this partnership with the Maharashtra State Education Department and Doordarshan, we can reach out to a large number of children across Maharashtra, who can continue to learn from home.

  • RPG Art Foundation continues to beautify Mumbai as it unveils its latest installation

The RPG Art Foundation in association with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) unveiled Waves, an art installation project by artist Krishna Kedar, near the Otters Club in Bandra (West). The event was graced by the Hon’ble Shri Aaditya Thackeray, Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment, Government of Maharashtra, and Padma Bhushan awardee, tennis legend Leander Paes.

The ‘wave’ installation is created with over 500 tennis rackets forged in weather-proof, chrome-plated stainless steel, which were manipulated and soldered by hand. The rackets sit on the blue base of an Apex Floor-guard emulsion, with an iconographic human figure holding a tennis racket and perched unfalteringly against the vibrant fluidity of the wave, symbolising Leander Paes’ invaluable contribution to sports.

The artwork that took over six months to complete, celebrates the spirit, courage and ability of the city to overcome obstacles that erupt in the daily lives of Mumbaikars, just like the waves that gather up again with renewed force after hitting the shore. Weighing a whopping 600 kgs, the artwork installation stands at 10 x 15 x 6 feet in height, length, and width, respectively. Click here to know more.
